MLB Pitchers We Consider Hot and Not Bets

--

MLB Pitchers We Consider Hot and Not BetsAugust 17 - Major League Baseball is not only one of America's favourite spectator sports, but also one of the nation's favourite betting sports, which is where we here at Bonus Sports Betting come in as we highlight MLB betting 'hits' and 'misses'.

And this week, we focus on a couple of MLB pitchers we believe are capable of burning up the pitch, and a couple that seem only capable of burning through the pockets of their employers. Please remember, the opinions on this website are our own.

Kicking off with the 'pitch burners', our pitcher of the week has to be Brett Myers of the Houston Astros. If there's one starting pitcher who can make the admittedly lack-luster Texas team look better than it actually is, it's the underrated Brett Myers.

You can't argue with his stats. Myers posted a winning record in conjunction with a hot 3.13 earned run average and 1.21 walks and hits per inning. Hence, it's no coincidence at all that the Astros won six of their last seven games in which he started.

Number two in the pitch burning stakes is Dallas Braden of the Oakland Athletics. Upon his return following a month off due to injury, Braden has been cooking with gas. In fact, he helped the Athletics win four of the five games in which he started.

Like the Houston Astros, the Oakland Athletics are not yet firing on all cylinders. But with the way Braden is playing (he recorded five strikeouts in four of his last five games), he will go a long way to bolster the team while his teammates find their feet.

Now for the 'pocket burners'. What's up with Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants? It's like he took a long gulp of 'negative' a few weeks ago and boy are the Giants paying the price. Consider how the team lost the last three games when he started.

Or how he has been hit for 22 times and 14 runs in 14 innings within that three-game stretch. Something ain't right in Lincecumland and between the struggling player, his coach and his teammates, a solution needs to be found and quick. Shrink anyone?

And our second pocket burner has to be Javier Vazquez of the New York Yankees. Even the most dozy Yankees fan will have noticed how Vazquez has pitched worse in each of his last three innings, in total getting hit for 22 times and 13 earned runs.

But unfortunately there seems to be no solution in sight and there is even a rumour circulating that his best days are behind him. And if that's true - and for the record we hope it's not - the question is how long the Yankees offense can continue to cover for him?
