NBA Betting Denver Nuggets Take on San Antonio Spurs
--

February 11 - Now that the Super Bowl has come and gone, and NFL betting fans
wise enough to back the New Orleans Saints are still counting their winnings,
basketball can reclaim the spotlight as NBA betting fans prepare for
tonight's showdown between the Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs.
Many NBA betting fans will be looking to the Spurs' star player Tim Duncan to
help wear down the Nuggets, but while the team from Denver would normally have
the power forward covered, it won't help its cause any that the Nuggets are a
man down, which will put way more pressure on the rest of the team.
As a result of tendonitis in one of his knees, Nuggets' power forward Kenyon
Martin will be on the bench in Thursday's game which could have disastrous
effects. Without him to keep Tim Duncan in check and bring his substantial
defence skills to the court, there is a risk Denver will start off on the back
foot.
More than that, of late Martin has played a key role in the success of the
Nuggets. Consider that rarely does he score less than 12 points a game or pull
down nine rebounds a game. So while there may be a faint hope that he'll play
tonight, the smart money will have him on the bench, ice pack poised on his
knee.
The last time the Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs played each other,
Martin put 27 points on the board and held onto 11 boards to help Denver snatch
a 103-89 win. Before that, fellow Denver power forward Carmelo Anthony helped
the team secure a 106-99 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
So the question is whether tonight's game will present the ideal opportunity for
the Spurs to wreak their revenge on the Nuggets? For our money the answer is
yes. With Martin likely to be sidelined, there is little doubt Denver will enjoy
a boost of confidence which will see them scoring some easy buckets.
