NBA Championship Comes Down to the Wire

--

NBA Championship Comes Down to the WireJune 17 - This season's NBA Championship has come down to the wire as tonight (Thursday, June 17) tied at 3-3 in the NBA Finals, either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Boston Celtics will be crowned the new NBA Champions.

Going into Game 6 on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers were lagging behind the Boston Celtics 3-2 in the NBA Finals and had to dig deep to keep the Eastern Conference team from taking home the title, which is precisely what they did.

Playing in front of frenzied LA fans at the Staples Center, the Lakers walked onto the court with a confidence that has been lacking in many of their other games. Everything about the team shouted 'shut Boston down', and boy did they.

Consider that by the final whistle the Lakers had successfully kept the Celtics to a paltry 67 points. Very paltry in fact when you consider that Boston posted the second-lowest single-game point total in the history of the NBA Finals.

So tied in the finals and everything hinging on tonight's game, the million dollar question is where does that leave the teams? A: Very confident if you're the Los Angeles Lakers and quaking in your boots if you're the Boston Celtics.

Most online sportsbooks have laid odds that the Lakers will win Game 7 and the Championship, and it's not hard to see what when you consider how easily the Lakers switched over to their 'A+ game' on Tuesday to fend off Boston.

Kobe played as well as Kobe does, but some of his teammates really stepped up. Consider Ron Artest, who put 15 points on the board while Paul Gasol assisted on nine scoring plays. So the Lakers are a 7-point favourite tonight.
