February 4 - Very often the art of sports betting comes down to timing
(amongst other things like intellect, an excellent understanding of sports and
the teams involved, and past experience) meaning that when you lay your bets can
dictate how much you get to pocket when the result goes your way.
Take for instance the current NFL 2009/10 season which is just days away from
yielding the Super Bowl XLIV champions in Miami, Florida. If you were canny
enough to back the Indianapolis Colts early on, you may be looking at a pretty
payday. If not, watch out as the Colts' points spread has skyrocketed.
Yup, it has climbed all the way up to six ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated
showdown with the New Orleans Saints. And a big part of the reason for this has
to do with the Saints' head-scratching loss in form of late. Having played super
football all season long, the team is struggling to keep it together.
How else do you explain the Saints shocking three game losses? But for whatever
the reason the Louisiana team has jumped its tracks, one thing is for sure and
that is that
NFL sports betting fans have lost confidence in the team, which has caused
the aforementioned Colts' betting line to launch itself into NFL orbit.
However it would be unfair of me not to give Indianapolis the credit they so
right deserve. With the team's superstar quarterback Peyton Manning firing on
all 12 cylinders, and the rest of the team firmly in his corner, the Colt's are
looking more like a team that will not only beat the Saints, but destroy them.
The sad part of all this is the fact that the big showdown was being billed as a
kind of a David vs. Goliath scenario, where the underdog Saints - who have never
made it to a Super Bowl before and represent a city still recovering from
Hurricane Katrina - will face the more experienced and cocksure Colts.
But with the way the Saints appear to have succumbed to the pressure, many NFL
betting are asking themselves whether the highlight of Super Bowl XLIV will be
the half-time entertainment and TV commercials. But for our money, we believe
the New Orleans Saints will stand up to the Indianapolis Colts.
