 May 20 - As the second leg of the prestigious triple Crown, the $1 million
Preakness Stakes (Gr 1) is one of the biggest betting events for horse racing
fans in America and beyond, and this year's race scheduled for Saturday will be
no exception.
Hence, we have compiled this 2025 Preakness Stakes betting
guide to give betting fans an advantage. To be contested by 14 runners
three-years-old over 1 1/16 miles at Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland,
this race should be a humdinger.
Especially if this year's Kentucky Derby is anything to go by, where the race
favorite Dialed In finished eighth and complete 30/1 long shot Animal Kingdom
romped home first. The good news is that both these runners will line up at the
start on Saturday.
There is no reason why Animal Kingdom can win on Saturday
Only, this time Animal Kingdom will start as the race favorite while, despite
his Derby disaster, Dialed In will start as the second favorite. Although many
betting fans believe Animal Kingdom's victory at Churchill Downs was a fluke, we
strongly disagree.If you watch the Kentucky Derby again, you'll see that John
Velazquez rode Animal Kingdom to perfection in Kentucky, keeping him off the
pace until just the right moment, when he asked him for more, and then guided
him across the line to Derby glory.
For our Preakness betting buck, there is no reason why Animal Kingdom can't
repeat that winning run on Saturday. Especially judging by his fiercest rivals.
We don't believe Dialed In will be much of a threat, although Mucho Macho Man
may step up.
Consider long shots Isn't He Perfect, King Congie and Sway Away
The Florida-bred Katherine Ritvo-trained colt has shown off his speed and
stamina in previous outings, and might just shine in the Preakness Stakes.
Another runner to consider is the Dale Romans-trained Shackleford who could
finish in the top spots.So, in summary our three Preakness Betting stakes
favorites are Animal Kingdom, Mucho Macho Man and Shackleford. Fans of long
shots might consider Isn't He Perfect, King Congie and Sway Away.
