Football Betting Rules

MONEYLINE BETTING

Numerous Vegas and Internet based sport books offer money line odds on American Football, both on the Internet and over the phone. Moneyline Betting is simply betting on the game based on a set price rather than on a points pread. The team you bet on simply needs to win..

Example :

A player can select 1 of 2 bets on the following matchup:
- If Denver wins, then the player laid $200 to win $100.
- If New York wins, then the player who bet $100 wins $180

Moneylines are to be offered on most NFL and NCAA games, and will be released mid-week, allowing players enough time to get action on these events. Moneyline bets may be parlayed to other games, but a moneyline bet may not be parlayed to any other bet from the same game.

BUYING POINTS

Point Buys is a way of letting a player / punter improve the point spread odds of a football game by actually "buying points" for the team / side or total he wants to bet on. Players can buy points in 1/2 point increments up to a maximum of 3-points, depending on the game. Each 1/2-point will cost the player an extra 10% vigorish or commission.

Example : The 49ers are playing the Cardinals, and the line on the game is the 49ers -6 1/2, with a total of 42.

- If a $100 bet is placed on the 49ers -6 1/2 with a 1/2 point buy, the player has a bet on the 49ers -6 points, and must pay $120 to win $100, instead of the usual $110 to win $100.

- If the player asks for a full 1 point buy to move the pointspread down to -5 1/2, he would have to pay $130 to win $100.

- Buying the pointspread down 1 1/2 points to 5 would cost $140 to win $100, and the full 3 point buy down to 3 1/2 would cost the player $170 to win $100. On the other hand, the player may buy points on the Cardinals side, and get the line at + 7, 7 1/2 or 8 points, up to + 9 1/2 points with an extra 10% increase in vigorish. Players may also buy points for football totals. - In this game, the player could buy an "over" bet with a maximum line move down to 39, or an "under" bet with a maximum line move up to 45.

- Point Buying to a maximum of 3 points will be offered on all NFL and NCAA games.
- Players will be charged an extra 10% vigorish (commission) to buy on, off or through the numbers 3 and 7.
- Point Buying will not be offered on halftime, quarter or moneyline betting.

STRAIGHT BETS

Most offshore sportsbooks and casinos offer players point spread and over / under betting, both online and telephonically. On a point spread bet, the team bet on, must win by the point spread. With an over / under bet, the total points of the game by both teams, including overtime, must fall over or under the chosen side.

Example : The posted line is Denver -5 at New York +5 and the over / under total is 41. The odds are $1,10 to win $1,00 (-110) unless otherwise shows

- For the player betting on Denver -5, they must win by more than 5 points for this to be a winning bet.

- For the player betting on New York +5, they must either win the game, or lose by less than 5 points for this to be a winning bet. If the final outcome falls on the number, either way, the bet is declared a "Push", and the original stake is refunded.

- For the player betting on the games' total points, from both teams to be "Over" 41, the combined final score of both teams must exceed 41.

- For the player betting on the games' total points, from both teams to be "Under" 41, the combined final score must be less than 41. If the outcome falls on the number, the bet is declared a "Push", and the original stake is refunded.

- Pointspread and Over/Under lines will be offered on all NFL, AFL and NCAA contests.

- All betting on the side & total will include all overtime scoring.

PROPOSITIONS AND EXOTICS

Basically Proposition / Exotic Bets are usually considered to be any bet other than a straight "side" or "over / under" bet. Specifically, these bets generally involve certain events and occurrences that happen right through any given contest. Some examples are listed below. Props and Exotics are to be offered on more marquee games, on the gambling menu. Included are : Sunday and Monday night NFL games, various NCAA Football games, major Bowl games, and many Playoff and Championship Basketball games. The Props and Exotics will also cover numerous other miscellaneous happening and events

HALFTIME BETTING

Halftime betting is basically a bet only on the score of the 1st or 2nd half of a game. The line offered will be a point spread, a moneyline, or a combination of the 2, but the bet will apply only to the score of the halftime period specified.

- 1st half lines will be offered on all NFL and NCAA games, and will be released mid-week, allowing enough time to get action on these events.
- 2nd half lines will be offered on all NFL and most NCAA games, and will be offered in the last 5 minutes of the end of the1st half of the game
- Bets may be parlayed to other games, but a 1st half bet may not be parlayed to any other bet from the same game.
- No teaser plays or buying of points is allowed on Halftime Bets.
- Overtime periods are included as part of the 2nd half.
- The full half (1st or 2nd) must be played for action.
